Welcome to Germany - A magazine packed with ideas for your next holiday or business trip. Germany is known all over the world as an attractive destination for business and holiday travel at the heart of Europe. The European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010, the anniversary of Dresden’s State Art Collection, the history of porcelain art in Germany, Saxony’s musical heritage which has produced brilliant composers like Johann Sebastian Bach and Robert Schumann are the main themes of Welcome to Germany’s summer edition 2010. The articles on these subjects provide information on original sites and museums you can visit and on the many events being staged on the occasion of these four themes. For example, visitors to the Ruhr metropolis in 2010 will be able to witness extraordinary, magnificent cultural festivities, which will convey in a fascinating way the spectacular changes which have turned the area into a cultural metropolis of a new kind. The article on the 450th anniversary of the Dresden State Art Collections will focus on the newly opened Collection of the Turkish Chamber in Dresden’s rebuilt Royal Palace and the show ”State of the Art since 1560: An exhibition” in the Albertinum, but readers will also find information on 300-years of porcelain manufacturing in Meissen and the 250-year-old tradition of porcelain art in Thuringia.

This issue also covers Leipzig’s rich musical heritage and charming German towns which served as film locations in international first class film productions such as ”The Reader” or ”Inglourious Basterds”.

Further historical subjects in this issue include the 200th anniversary of the death of the Prussian Queen Luise, the Luther Decade 2008-2017, 200 years of the Oktoberfest, the year of the Hohenstaufen Dynasty in Baden-Württemberg and the Oberammergau Passion play.
